A Past President of APETT (2006 – 2007), Mark has also served on many national committees, working groups and initiatives related to the advancement of structural engineering within Trinidad & Tobago and, the Region. These include Member of the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago, Chairman of the Seismic Engineering Committee of APETT, Member of the Steering Committee of the National Building Code and Member of the Structural Steelwork Committee of APETT.
In addition to a radiant engineering career, Mark has been an Owner/Investor of several developments and development companies. He has been involved with the Colonial Homes and Commercial Properties Limited (Trinidad), Kittitian Hill (St. Kitts), The View (Grenada), South View (Barbados) and Carnbee Development (Tobago). This extraordinary balance between technical skill and development experience has given him a perspective that few designers can claim.
One who truly understands the intent of the Client, Mark Francois has been able to ensure that the Beston Team have a broader outlook on projects. He has that rare ability to foresee “the next”, and, once partnered with the Client’s vision can only translate to success.
Kevin Granger
Kevin Granger believes there is a systematic way to solve every problem. He therefore embraces the opportunity to focus on project challenges and values the varying strengths of the technical and administrative team which ensures that every project is looked at from a unique perspective.
Over the years, he has worked on many projects ranging from Hotels and Resorts, Sporting Facilities, Health Care Facilities, Schools, Residential Projects, Commercial Buildings, Restaurant and Industrial Complexes and Industrial Processes Related Structures.
Kevin is a holder of a Bachelor of Science’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Earthquake Engineering at Imperial College London. He was also awarded the “Outstanding Young Engineer Award” by APETT in 2011. While he has spent years focusing on Structural Engineering, his tenure extends to prior experience as a Resident Engineer on the National Highways Year II Programme and as the Design and Supervising Engineer on the QPCC Members Pavilion in Port of Spain, where his technical skills were sharpened.
Kevin has also served on a number of committees including the APETT Representative for National Building Code Steering Committee.
As a Director of Beston, Kevin is charged with evaluating and implementing operational systems to optimise production. He also plays a critical role in resource allocation and financial forecasting to ensure Beston’s successful project delivery.
Wayne Loquan
Wayne Loquan is a meticulous engineer who is remarkably skilled in timekeeping. Wayne began his illustrious engineering career in 1979. In 1995, he left the public sector and entered into private practice as a partner of Beston Consulting Limited.
Wayne has served as Managing Director and Head of all Civil Infrastructure Projects of the firm since 1999, overseeing and often actively involved in some of the largest infrastructure projects undertaken by Beston. Although he retired as Managing Director at the end of 2013, Wayne continues to be actively involved in the Company’s infrastructure projects.
Grenville Phillips II
Grenville has worked on an exceptional range of project management and engineering projects in virtually every territory throughout the Caribbean since 1991. His work includes project management and design; inspections of roads, bridges and buildings; structural, environmental, highway and coastal engineering; vulnerability assessments; consultancy and training; and acting as an independent design reviewer, adjudicator and expert witness.
He has won multiple awards, holds several degrees, and has had work
widely published in engineering journals.
Based in Barbados, Grenville is a member/fellow of Associations of Professional Engineers in Barbados, the UK and Canada.
Dr. Ian Khan Kernahan
Dr. Ian Khan Kernahan is one of the region’s leading authorities in structural designs, having designed numerous structures in Trinidad & Tobago and throughout the Caribbean. He has also pioneered the design of Post-Tensioned slabs on-grade.
“IKK”, as he is otherwise known, is critical about the employment of the first principles where one can take a project and break it down into discrete principles. Ian is also a retired lecturer of University of the West Indies (UWI) where he tenured for 31 years. This has sharpened his reviewing skills as he is able to catch the issues that are often taken for granted.
Nigel Landreth-Smith
Nigel Landreth-Smith is a veteran in the construction industry beginning as a Quarry Manager back in 1981. He joined BBFL Caribbean Limited in 2000 as a Senior Site Technician inspecting the construction of KFC outlets structurally designed by the Company, including the new outlets at Chaguanas and Couva. Over the years he has been mostly involved in the civil and bridge works locally and within the region.
Ralph Seecheran
Mr. Seecheran joined the firm back in 1993 when they were known as Blake, Beston, Francois & Associates as a structural draughtsman, working on residential, commercial, hotels, resorts and bridges.
In 2003, he was promoted to the position of Site Technician and his first assignment was the Santa Rosa Bridge Expansion project on a full-time basis. Ralph is also Level 1 Certified Unbounded Post-Tensioning Installer, honing these skills on the Furness Multistorey Carpark, Port-of-Spain. He has since supervised numerous structural and infrastructure projects.
Stephen Alexander
Stephen Alexander has over 40 years’ experience in soils & materials testing and supervision, inclusive of geotechnical investigations. He has over the years supervised works locally and throughout the Caribbean, namely, Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Grenada, St. Vincent.
Since 2015, Stephen plays an important role as the Soils and Materials component of Beston’s weekly internal training programme. Stephen has continuously maintained high expectations for the quality of work he delivers. Now in his role as a mentor, he is compelled to continue this training program to ensure that the highest quality of work is produced by the Beston’s site personnel.
Julien Dalrymple
Julien Dalrymple has over twenty (20) years’ experience in the construction industry as a successful BIM/CAD Specialist and currently functions as the structural division’s Production Manager. He is a regular attendee at the annual training and informative sessions hosted by Autodesk University.
In addition to his drafting experience, Julien is also a Certified Project Management Professional.
Kirt David
Kirt David is a Senior AutoCAD / Civil 3D Technician with over 20 years’ experience in both Civil & Structural works.
Starting with the Company back in September 2003, he worked in both the Structural & Civil Offices. However, after finally settling in the Civil Department, he was trained in the Land Desktop software and has used effectively for a couple years until branching over to one of the most highly recommended software in this era to produce civil works known as Civil 3D.
Kirt also regularly travels and participates in the annual training sessions held by Autodesk University in Las Vegas.
Cindy Villafana
Cindy Villafana joined the organisation in 2005 as an Accounting Assistant and progressively changed her career path in 2008 resulting in the position of administering the operations of our then Civil Division.
Cindy is currently the Office Manager and HR. Coordinator.
